As Asahikawa is known for its woodcraft, Hokkaido wood is used to create a feeling of warmth inside the station. One feature that has attracted a lot of attention is the People Wall past the ticket gates, where a million members of the public (77% from Asahikawa) got to have their names carved in English letters in the ash wood wall.
Asahikawa Airport is a second-class airport located between Asahikawa and Higashi Kagura and known as the gateway to Northern Hokkaido. The southeast side is a particularly popular photo spot because of the spectacular view of the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range.
